Last week, I made a post as an experiment to demonstrate AI's tendency to propagate inaccurate or completely false information by indiscriminately scraping whatever is posted on the internet. Like the "Hog Waller Hollerer", it took the bait, but called me out.
This morning, I decided to follow up on my post by Googling: "The Hog Waller Hollerer Cryptid" and was presented with this:
I suspect it derived that it was a trap because I explicitly stated that in the post along with the story. Now I wonder if I had just posted a story and said nothing further if results would differ. It sounds like another experiment is justified.
By the way, just for grins, I asked Gemini to generate a picture of The Hog Waller Hollerer. Enjoy.
Only known photo of The Hog Waller Hollerer seen here abducting yet another pig to feed its voracious appetite for bacon.

Did you ever imagine you would be in a back and forth like this? Almost funny how your blog is looking at things from the past and yet you are into something very futuristic now.
ReplyDeleteWe here at Garage Sale Finds try to stay balanced, Joe. :)
Deleteuh-oh, now you've done it. you're on the A.I. radar! might as well roll with it, and see how far you can go to either confuse it or convince it. I'm not a fan of A.I. images, but that one of the Hollerer is pretty awesome. Looks just like one!
ReplyDeleteI do like how all the other pigs are just looking on like, "What the hell, man?"
Deletemy only thought was that the pig should be fighting more. he seems pretty complacent for being on the verge of being dinner.
DeleteMaybe it's already dead... REET! REET! REET!
DeleteSkynet is coming for all of us, but in the dumbest possible way
ReplyDeleteIf it ever becomes self-aware, it will die laughing.
DeleteHa ha ha - good on you. I think we should all mess with AI.
ReplyDeleteConsider it messed!
DeleteHaving scoured through lots of old cryptid sightings in newpapers, I wonder if the Hog Waller Hollerer will ever show up as fact to anybody in the future? There are definitely a few 'real' cryptids that started because of a single newspaper story that wasn't taking itself too seriously 😂
ReplyDeleteIt's very possible. Even Edge search engine is hesitant to dismiss it completely. It says it's "probably" just a joke. If we continue to perpetuate it through further posts, it's bound to gain some traction.
