What was on TV November 25th through December 1st, 1978

Time for another look into television past.  This week, it's November 25th through December 1st, 1978 with a Suzanne Somers cover and a look at the New World of Video Discs.

Hee.  Disco-vision.

The live action Spider-man show: yet another disappointing superhero offering from Marvel.  If the colander eyes, external wrist cartridges and steel cable webbing weren't enough, he never fought any villains from the comics.  Just 2-bit thugs and extortionists.

This is another New York edition in my collection.  Still not sure how I got these as the rest of the collection is my local St. Louis editions.  So this Saturday morning lineup is only vaguely familiar.

Another 70's disaster film.

I dare you to dial Santa now.  When I was a kid, I dialed one of these numbers out of a several-year-old magazine, except this one was to talk to your favorite superheroes.  The guy on the other end of the who was clearly not a superhero was none too amused.

If Santa isn't in, call David Letterman.

In Search Of was always a must see.

Alexander Graham Wolf looks suspiciously like Wile E. Coyote.

We had something similar to "Wometco" in St. Louis.  Our local UHF Channel 30 would go to scrambled signal at 7:00 p.m.  You could mess with the horizontal and vertical and eventually make out a picture, but no sound.  It felt like you were getting away with something.
"High Ballin'", yet another copycat trucker movie capitalizing on Jerry Reed's success in Smokey and the Bandit.

We always watched the Disney Winnie the Pooh shorts.

Suzanne Somers wanted it all.  I don't think she got it. Unless you count the "Thigh-master".

A less-than-favorable review of the pilot of Battlestar Galactica.  I had no idea 20th Century Fox sued them for similarities to Star Wars.

  1. i don't get that Fox sued, especially since some of the special effects people who worked on star wars worked on BSG, too. weird. i totally recall that episode with lloyd bridges. and whoohoo, who can hate on jerry reed?
