Christmas 1939

It's time for another visit with our 1939 family.  We see the family playing "spin the child", see their other children play with the Lionel train around the Christmas tree, and meet the latest addition to the family.  Not to mention lots of hats and one of the earliest appearances of what appears to be an aluminum Christmas tree.  In a scene around 3:49 we get to meet the man behind the camera.

  1. this may be the best one yet. so many awesome HATS. i appreciate his attention to filming random little details around the house, but i wish he would have mastered the skill of how to FOCUS, haha...

i had no idea aluminum trees existed in the 30s! and any idea what he was doing in the scene where he's sitting at the table and lights a candle? what did he pick up next?

I think much of that can be blamed on the degradation of the film. The emulsion was actually peeling off of the film base.

Unfortunately no. Lost to time. There's another scene where he's interviewing an elderly woman (she was probably born in the mid 1800's!) I have no idea what they're talking about, but they're looking through albums. I'd love to know who she was. Not a relative, because he refers to her as Mrs. (can't remember the name right now) on the film notes.
