A Shocking Find

This porcelain Jack O' Lantern lamp dates from 1980. It was a recent find (just last week).  While it's not terribly vintage, I liked its look.  It stands 8" tall.

Sitting atop a shock of cornstalks, it bears a striking similarity to a blow mold I've had for a long time which I first blogged about it back in 2010.

  1. Wow my mom had this bring back some great memories. And yeah the 80s according to my children makes it vintage.

    1. Yes, despite the passage of years, I still have a hard time thinking of the 90's or even '80s as vintage.

  2. wow, i didn't realize they made porcelain decorations, especially in the 80s. why not just make them out of some cheaper material that will only last a season or two, thereby creating a self-repeating need to buy, buy, buy? it's the american way, after all. that being said, i like the look of the porcelain one a lot. reminds me of the porcelain christmas trees -- i have a vintage one i put on our dining room table every year. wouldn't be christmas without it!

    1. That's a good comparison (the ceramic Christmas tree). I initially thought this was someone's ceramic class project, but it looks too well done.
