The Black Hole..That is This Blog

I know, it's been almost a month since my last post.  It feels like this summer has been sucked into a black hole. Hey! Look what I have for you.  As promised to Dex, the complete "The Black Hole" coloring book (mostly uncolored).  Full of line drawings and games and coming straight to you from 1979 and Walt Disney.  Enjoy!
First off, let me admit this: I've never seen "The Black Hole", so I know very little about the movie, the storyline or the characters.  I've always heard it almost bankrupted Disney, but I don't know if that's true. Now, let's proceed.
We're first introduced the crew of "The Palimino".  I'll include the actual actor after each page for comparison.
Well, hair doesn't look right, but I guess I can buy it for a coloring book.

C'mon!  Ernest Borgnine?  It's like they're not even trying! The guy in that drawing is bald for cripes sake!
Again, it looks nothing like the actor.

It does, however, look like Peter Cushing.

Okay, I'll give them this one.

Well, hard to tell from profile, so I'll let this one slide too.

Kinda creepy...

The secret message?  "I like to watch Kate".

Leave extra room to draw Kate in.  You know he likes to watch her.
"Pal" and "Omino".  That's all I got.
"Which Robot is Different?" Why do we have to ostracize someone just because they're "different".  Haven't we come further than this people?  Can't we let people (and robots) live in skin they're most comfortable with? Wait.  Bottom row middle. Never mind.
Another shot of "Baldy" Borgnine. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that Ernest wouldn't sign to allow them to use his image without a percentage.
If I'm going into space for a long duration trip, one thing I'm not planting is beets.
Little known fact: V.I.N.Cent cheats.
How much fishing can you do in space? And what are two robots going to do with a fish if they catch it?

"Live Mike". I'm not sure if that's liv or līv Mike.
V.I.N.Cent intervenes with what?! Man, I need to watch this movie.
Dots connected. Now what?
What's going on here?? Why is Kate in Trouble?? Is this thing on Disney+???
Wasn't V.I.N.Cent just intervening?
Apparently, to hide from the Sentries, you just need to crouch. Where are they looking?
V.I.N.Cent turns on his own kind.
Go ahead. Draw one. I'll wait.

None of these if Newton's First Law has anything to say about it.

Boy, talk about an anticlimactic ending to this coloring book. I was hoping there'd at least be a blank page where it encouraged you to draw a black hole by coloring the entire page black.
And the end. Crayons down.

Just a note that I will be participating once again in the Countdown to Halloween starting October 1st.  I try to post daily with Halloween-related finds from the past year.  Stay tuned.

  1. Saw TBH at a drive-in on a double-bill with Sleeping Beauty circa 1980. Admittedly, I spent most of the evening in the back seat watching the slasher movie that was playing on the opposite screen. (MOM: "Turn around!")

    1. At least you weren't watching the couple in the car next to you.

  2. Saw this once as a kid, on cable or something. Had the little toys of the robots and remember being scare of the red Maximillian robot.

Hope your summer was good and here's to a fun October!

    1. surprise, surprise, eh? yeah, i don't recall ever seeing it. no idea why, except i think Star Wars just monopolized all my thoughts and cares. (maybe things haven't changed that much in that regard, haha)

  4. I saw this as a 10 year old, and yes Maximillian was quite scary, as well as the "humanoids"! Definitely Disney's attempt at Star Wars type robots mixed with 20000 Leagues Under the Sea.

  5. Beets are delicious - they turn your pee and poop pink and lower your blood pressure. What is there not to love?

    1. My dad always grew beets when I was a kid. I think they taste like dirt.
