Scratch Cat Fever

These die cuts are referred to as "Scratch Cats" due to their extended claws and hackled backs.

This die cut was made by Beistle and dates to the 1960's. It's jointed and can be positioned as desired.  I recently found this along with two identical die cuts in a lot at an estate sale. I paid up for the 3 at $15, but each is worth $15, so I didn't do too bad. Aside from the staples in the back of this piece, it and the others are in excellent condition. There are no bends and the joints are tight.

  1. Boy, you're really battin' 'em out, Tom!

Kinda-Sorta Related Trivia: If you go back and look at the earliest "Tom & Jerry" cartoons, you' ll see this same jagged-type design on Tom (Joe Barbera referred to it as "sawtooth", which I like more than "scratch"). It was eliminated in place of the smoother outline when it was felt the jagged design didn't look as good in motion.

    1. Yeah, the get loose, plus ears, tail, paws bend. Tape tears, etc. These are about as close to mint as I've ever seen in a die cut this age.
