What was on TV December 8th through 14th, 1979

This will be a short post as far as comments.  But we all know you come for the pictures anyway.  Christmas specials were really gearing up this week in 1979.  Things I noted were how many celebrity Christmas specials there were.  From Crystal Gayle to Pat Boone to Donnie and Marie to Dean Martin.  Even though these show were usually pretty bad (Bing Crosby's Christmas Specials being the exception of course) I miss seeing them.

This Raleigh Lights ad reminded me of a Norman Rockwell scene.

Facts of Life was new this season with Charlotte Ray making the jump from Diff'rent Strokes.

It's amazing the prices people were willing to pay for VHS movies.

Do people still give liquor as Christmas presents?  I remember my dad receiving some every year.

I always thought Santa was kind of a jerk in "'Twas the Night Before Christmas".  C'mon, Santa.  Do a little research before you shun an entire community!  Plus he was kinda creepy looking.

There's that Wile E. Coyote lookalike again.

I wasn't a country fan, but I was kinda sweet on Crystal Gayle.  I think it was the hair.

I liked Bob Ho Ho Hope, but he kind of looks devious in this picture.

Oh yeah, and Perry Como had a Christmas special this week too.  Sheesh!

  1. Just love looking through the old guides. Such nostalgia, even to a point of melancholy. Sad, such good, fun memories. As for "Twas The Night Before Christmas, it is my son's favorite special. He just loves it! Thanks for posting these.

    1. "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" was always a favorite of mine as well, despite the odd-looking Santa. Great music.
