It's always fun when you get a Friday the 13th in October. It's like an extra day of Halloween: 13, 31? A coincidence?
For this Friday the 13th, I give you a couple black cats to add to your luck (or misfortune). These particular cats are salt and pepper shakers and they were made in Japan, likely pre-war.
The corks are in their back because they have the unusual feature of a "groaner" built into the bottom.
If you don't know what a "groaner" is, think of those little canisters you saw in dime stores. They were usually decorated with cows and when you turned them over, they mooed. In this case, these "meow".
Oh, creepy cute cats and they meow...BONUS!
ReplyDeleteThanks for being here .

Thanks for dropping by, Michelle, and thanks for once again hosting the Countdown.
Deleteas the owner of a black cat, we tell Nick that every October is "his month" -- and today is double special. If he was an outdoor kitty i'd be worried for him. When he was a kitten i tried to teach him how to wear a little witches' hat, but he will have nothing to do with it. He's just an all-natural halloween kitty, here to make your day lucky. love those groaning/meowing shakers! i've never seen such a thing. do they work?
ReplyDeleteThey do work.
DeleteThose are cool, and they look so over the whole thing. Very cat-like.
ReplyDeleteThey do have that, "That's right, we're bad..." look.
