Dynamite Monster Bash

Dynamite was one of my staple orders from Scholastic Books when I was a kid.  And one of my favorite parts of the magazine was always Count Morbida.  This issue from 1975 dates a little prior to when I started reading it, but I was fortunate to come across it along with several other issues at an estate sale this summer.  It's issue number twelve and it devotes a large section to planning a Monster Bash.  Maybe you can use some of these for your Halloween party this year.

Arthur Friedman drew the Count Morbida puzzle page.  Not much can be found about him on the internet and it doesn't look like he did a whole lot of artwork outside of the Count.

The kid who owned this previously spoiled it for the rest of us by solving the puzzles.  Selfish brat.

Extra points (like that counts) for anyone who assembles this dragon table centerpiece.

  1. it's funny -- count morbida was always one of my favorite parts of Dynamite magazine, too. i wonder why that is? i guess they were tapping into our phase of loving monsters. (is that a just a generational thing, or just a phase kids go through? do kids go through phases of loving monsters anymore? i know dinosaurs still click.)

also, i'm SO tempted to make that dragon balloon table decoration, just because it's there.

I don't think so. I think ours was the last generation of monster love. My kids are into unicorns.:(

  2. I wish Scholastic would do a Kickstarter or something to publish a Dynamite collection.
