This Monster Magnet from 1964 was one of Wham-O's lamer toys released during the golden age that brought us the Frisbee, Hula Hoop and Super Ball.
Looking more "Genie" than "Monster", I'm sure it's appeal didn't last long with kids. I mean how many times can you stick a magnet to something before you get bored.
The magnets in each hand of the "Monster" are fairly weak-kneed. They claim it can lift 20 pounds, but I have my doubts.
I have never seen this before. You have to love the sound effects in the add
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping the owner of that car sped off when those brats slammed their magnets on it.
ReplyDeleteI own an original 1964 Monster Magnet, in the original packaging, sealed and never played with.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Anonymous. Do you know if that package dates from 1964? If so, $1.49 was quite a chunk of change for that back then.
