Not having anyone my age in the neighborhood or any siblings near my age to play with (everyone say, "Awwwwww"), and despite not being into sports, I recall thinking Mr. Quarterback would be pretty cool. Finally, "someone" to throw a ball to me. (Everyone say, "Awwwwwww" again.)
I can't even tell you how much I played with my Quiz Wiz! I remember also having a Star Wars Question pack for it. And that handheld Baseball game was played with so so much that when if finally broke I was so said. Still have the football one tho, and it still works great.
ReplyDeleteThe handheld Coleco sports games were just pure gold when I was a kid. It's amazing how addictive and joyful it was to send a red dash across the screen, trying to return a kickoff all the way for a touchdown, in Electronic Quarterback, decades before Madden. And Head to Head Electronic Baseball was amazing complex for its time, with all sorts of strategy coming into play on pitch selection and such. It didn't play the other sports games much, though.
