Like Finding a Pumpkin in a Haystack

Way back in 2010 when I began this blog, one of my earliest posts was about some Halloween-related finds (posted exactly 11 years ago).  This was back before I participated in the Countdown to Halloween or even knew it existed (actually, I'm not sure how many years it's been around).  Anyway, way back then, I blogged about a Jack O' Lantern blow mold.  This year, I found another just like it.

This Jack O' Lantern sporting a witch hat atop a corn shock was made by Empire Plastics in 1967.

Here he is with a similar porcelain version I picked up last year.

Blow molds are another Halloween category that has gone through the roof pricewise this past year.  If you can find these smaller ones for under $20, you're doing good.

  1. They have skyrocketed in recent years. Sometimes the prices in antique stores can be closer to $100.00. That is why my blow mold collection is non existent.

    1. Yes, there are definitely different price levels depending on where you find these. $1 at garage sales, $15 at estate sales, $40 on eBay, $100 in an antique mall.

  3. a friend of mine was collecting those large X-mas blow mold figures for awhile. i thought it was a great thing to collect, and her yard looked great for the holidays, but then she ran out of room for storing them and had to get rid of them. not sure i want to let her know what those probably go for now...
