I've posted quite a few Gurley candles (not "Girly", the Gurley Novelty company of Buffalo, New York) over the years here at the blog, the vast majority of them being Halloween-themed.
I haven't come across this one before.
Unfortunately, the heat must have gotten to this one in the past and he now looks like he's lost his dentures.
There's a candle inside him that acts as a supporting pillar. The wick is in the stem. As stated on the bottom sticker, when you light him, it will melt down into the hollow and give him the look of a real Jack O' Lantern. I'll never find out. I don't have the heart to burn him. I thought about warming him up to reshape him, but I might cause additional damage, so I'm just going to leave the old fellow as is.
I Love Gurley Novelty !!!
ReplyDeleteMe too, Musiklover.
Deleteit looks nervous to me, haha ("don't light me!!")
ReplyDeleteI can see that.
DeleteYou are preserving him for history, so that is commendable. It is a very cool piece.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joe!
