At the sale where I found one of my grails (heretofore known as the "grail sale"), I also picked up these 2 fellows.
First up is a classic Gurley candle dating from the 1970's. Technically, it's a Suni candle, but W&F Mfg. owned both companies and used the same forms.
To illustrate my point, here he is with his smaller version made by Gurley.
A lot of people assume this next figure is a Gurley candle, but it's actually a Wizard air freshener made by a different company (Boyle-Midway). You do see a lot of borrowing of styles among the various wax companies. This one dates from 1984.
Here's what he looked like in his original package.

You know you've reached the 1980's when you needed to start labeling wax deodorizers with "NOT TO BE EATEN" followed by the reminder "Please inform children".
I've explored Gurley, Suni and Wizard in past blogs as well as a comparison of the various candle companies.
