The Caves 'n Cavern

Time for another postcard.  This one is an over-sized card (5" x 8 1/2") for The Caves 'N Cavern in Northview Mall in Indianapolis.

There's very little on the internet about it, but I did find this adverstisement on Flickr that gives you an idea of what it looked like.

Northview Mall is still there, but doesn't have it's own website and I would guess like most malls these days, they're not a going concern.

  1. hee hee - looks like a fun place - should go with the paleo diet everyone is eating these day.

  2. I used to live near this place, but my parents said it was for grown-ups and I never saw the inside, but the not very good mural of dinosaurs on the side would get any kid wanting to go. The murals were destroyed when the restaurant closed and was subdivided into other businesses, including a new Olan Mills location my parents took me to.

    1. Thanks for the info. We had a local restaurant that my parents said was for grown-ups only too. Years later I found out kids were welcome, they just wanted to go alone!

  3. I went as a kid. It was fun. Mall is still there. It is really just a nice set of outdoor shops. I think restaurant closed because of a fire.

  4. Good day, I'm an author who has written four books about Indiana, most recently Lost East Chicago and Indiana Harbor, which was published by The History Press. Reedy Press commissioned me to write the book Lost Treasures of Indiana. I was wondering if I could include these images in the book, crediting you and your blog of course. I can be reached at jpete@alumni.iu.edu.
