Your Neighborhood Burglar Needs Help

When I was in 9th grade, our home was burglarized while we were attending my grandfather's funeral. I'm not looking for sympathy, just setting the tone for today's post.  Although, the jerks did steal my piggy bank. I'm guessing this pamphlet dates from the 1980's.

We actually had a "Charlie Bar" in our sliding door when we were robbed. The burglars used a screwdriver or something of the like to pop it out of place.

The burglars made away with quite a bit of money, jewelry and a large portion of my father's gun collection. The end result was my parents paid a couple thousand dollars to install a burglar alarm, so it was like being robbed twice.

So heed this pamphlet's advice. Lock those doors and windows, close your garage and keep your eyes peeled.

  2. when i was a kid, we had our house robbed too. i remember we had just come back from the dentist, and i immediately ran downstairs to turn on the TV -- just in time to see the robbers loading it into the back of their car and taking off through the back door. for some reason i think it was teenagers. i yelled up the stairs "mom! they are taking the TV away!" and she said "WHAT?!?"

    1. I never heard that story before. That's crazy. How old were you? Did you ever get your TV back? How traumatizing for a child (not the robbery, losing your TV!)

    2. ohh, i was young -- 5, 6, 7? something like that. young enough to not think "robbers!" but to at first wonder if they were taking it for repairs, lol. i don't recall anything about the aftermath. i should ask my sisters if they remember that, and if they know what happened.
