The Brady Lunch

I have to admit, I've been enjoying "A Very Brady Renovation" on HGTV and I will not apologize for that.

I found this Whitman frame tray puzzle over the summer.  The artwork actually has very good likenesses of the cast with the exception of "Tiger" who has now become an English Sheepdog.

Are you still with me?  Okay. While perusing a tightly packed local estate sale, I observed an elderly gentleman walking through the house with a cane, casually watching the shoppers, but not really looking at anything.  I dismissed him as someone who was drug along to the sale unwillingly.  Having looked over the entire house and not finding anything of interest, I started to leave when I noticed some photos sitting on the table near the cashier.  They were pictures of the St. Louis Variety Club telethon. During the 70's and 80's, the Variety Club held an annual telethon and raised money for children with "physical and mental disabilities".  I recognized Monty Hall immediately. Based on the clothes, this is solid '70s.

Leftovers Day 17 -- Hey Wilton!

Perhaps nothing is more inexplicable than the success of  the TV show "Alf" in the 1980's.  Well, maybe the fact Wilton made a cake pan out of him is.

She Turned the World on with Her Smile

I was only 3 when this show premiered, but I remember watching it in the early '70's and recognizing there was something different about the character Mary played.  She had a job.  My mother was a housewife and never had a job, so this was a new concept to me. Also, since she wasn't married, as a child, I thought she was maybe 20 years old and just starting out, much like my older sister whom for the same reason I equated her character to. She was 33 when the show premiered.  Single at 33 and a working woman. Odd that that was so foreign in 1970. She's also probably a large reason it no longer is.
