Fill 'n Thrill

These "Fill 'N Thrill" eggs were made by the Peoria Plastic Company.

They were founded in 1968, so the eggs date from some time after that. They don't appear to be in business any longer.

Easter Candy Dish

This plastic, scalloped candy dish is reminiscent of the Halloween dish I blogged previously I actually found about 5 of these at the same sale. I'm unsure of the age.

Musical Easter Egg

Other than being an egg, this toy didn't scream "Easter" when I first saw it.  Decorated with flowers and a gold finch (I think that's a gold finch), it looked more like an ode to Spring.  Turning the crank produced no music.  I thought maybe at one time it made bird sounds.

April Fools...uh...on me?

One of the reasons my posts are sporadic is my rigidity in wanting to publish something during the appropriate season, or even on an exact day.  I stage posts in folders to be blogged later in the year, then completely forget about them. Case in point, April Fools Day.  I had this page from the Holiday Fun book scanned and ready to go since this past summer.  I know I can schedule posts ahead of time, but I always think I'll remember when it gets closer to the actual day.

So enough with the excuses. I'm not waiting another year.  Enjoy this April Fool's joke on me.

p.s. I don't know if there was an answer key to this picture. You decide what's right and what's wrong. Personally, I could see all of this totally happening.

What was on TV March 20th through 26th, 1982

I'm back from hiatus, although I'm making no promises. I have missed blogging and hope to resume a regular schedule, but life, you know?

But take it for what it is.  And what it is is another look into TV of the past.  This time from 1982.

If You Want Me, Just Whistle

I have a weak spot (read "sucker") for old appliances and electronics.  I love the gadgetry (even the failed ones) the 1950's and '60's brought.  This predecessor to "The Clapper" falls in that category.

A Super Week

I've made comment over the years that "Superman: The Movie" was my Star Wars.  What I mean is, for most of my generation, "Star Wars" was the defining movie.  I saw "Star Wars" and enjoyed it, but it didn't have the cultural impact on me as it did other kids my age (commence stoning now). I only saw the movie once.  I didn't collect the toys. I didn't collect the cards. I didn't have the record album.  I was a comic book geek.

I was mainly a fan of Marvel Comics.  For those of you unfamiliar, Marvel is Spider-man, The Avengers, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, X-Men, The Hulk, Captain America, etc.  All of the heroes that are popular movies now. No, not Aquaman. That's DC which along with our underwater friend had Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman and Robin, the Flash, etc. In the 70's, the only place you could find your heroes off the page was on TV.  And when it came to TV, DC seemed to win hands down.

There was "The Superfriends" on Saturday mornings.
