I picked up these melted plastic popcorn witches together at a sale a couple years ago. Apparently, I never posted them.
You might remember decorations like these from classrooms and homes of your childhood. Dating from the 1970's and made from melted plastic that's hard and crinkly, they somewhat resemble popcorn, hence their nickname. Their official name was "Glitter Plaques" which is not quite as catchy or memorable.

Definitely ubiquitous for that era. We had a pumpkin one. At least they were more substantial than the flimsy cardboard/paper decorations.
ReplyDeleteYes, they hold up pretty well, aside from leaving them in heat which may warp them.
DeleteYou should hit up my aunt and uncle. I'm sure they have some of these -- or at least they did, but you know them, they never get rid of anything. i've never liked them, lol.
ReplyDeleteWe had these when I was a kid. I always loved the texture both on the front and on the back. I had no idea they were called popcorn. Your blog is so educational.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lady M. I specialize in useless knowledge.
