This free handout map from your local Standard/Amoco/Utoco/Pan-Am gas station dates from the late 1950's and features advertising for an early gas credit card.
I recall my father stopping at gas stations during our childhood roadtrips and getting these maps. As a courtesy, the station attendant would highlight the route to wherever you were going. These days, you're lucky if the kid behind the counter can point you to the bathroom.
so true about the bathroom statement
ReplyDeleteWell here in Colorado, the attendents still can point you where you're going. I think back to early October when I ask one young lady where the Lions fishing pond were in the town of Holyoke, and she gave me perfect directions.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I rarely go in gas stations. Pay and the pump and go.
