This "honeycomb" owl Halloween decoration was made by the Amscan Company and probably dates anywhere from the 1960's to 1970's.
Amscan was founded in 1947 and is based in Elmira, New York. It was so named because the founders of the company were American and Scandinavian. And exactly who were the founders? Not even the corporate site reveals this information. Way to remember your past, guys.
For some reason, Amscan doesn't garner the collectible prices of other honeycomb and die cut pieces.
Oh yeah, these were the staple classroom decoration of every grammar school.
ReplyDeletePerhaps they are not as rare or survive longer.
ReplyDeletei'm amazed you continue to find these in such perfect condition. those things were so fragile, and even if you were careful it was easy to damage them!
ReplyDeleteYeah, ususally those metal tabs that hold the owl open break off or if you even look at it funny, that tissue honeycomb paper tears.
DeleteLooks well made!
ReplyDeleteIt is.
DeleteI love this type of decoration!
ReplyDeleteMe too which is why I wasn't too disappointed that I wasn't tempted to sell it.
