I was surprised to find this witch blow mold at an estate sale this past summer. It was later in the day and only priced at $1. Normally, Halloween items are snatched up in the first wave of estate sale pickers.
Based on the UPC sticker on the bottom, it's not that old, but still a nice addition to my blow mold collection, even if it does have an incredibly short cord.
What a find and only a dollar! Your lucky day! I am sure it is an Adrenalin rush like that that keeps you going to garage sales.
ReplyDeleteYes, just when I think the glory days are over, I find something that reignites my hope.
DeleteUPC codes were introduced in the (late?) 70s, weren't they? it looks like it could be that old. i'm surprised to read that halloween stuff gets snapped up early. seems like a niche collector thing (no offense)

DeleteThat is correct. Actually, early '70's in some parts of the country. This is a sticker UPC. It just has the look of "Walmart" on it. It probably isn't more than 20 years old.

The last few years has seen a huge jump in the collector's market for Halloween pieces and it's still growing. So you have people looking to buy to collect and buy to sell.
maybe i should keep an eye out for vintage halloween stuff, then. i mean, i kind of do, but my tendency is to breeze over holiday stuff because most of it is clearly dross. but like anything, as your blog shows, there's always gems to be found!
DeleteGorgeous! Hit the jackpot that day.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joe. Yes I was happy.
DeleteDang!!! What a great find. I am just now jumping on the blowmold bandwagon which means I have very few because theyre hard to find and expensive. I am green with envy on this find! Congrats
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, Holli. Blow molds are definitely a growing collector's genre. Enjoy!
DeleteGreat find! Doesn't matter when it was actually made, blow molds are timeless
ReplyDeleteVery true. Most of the blow molds even made today still use the same molds from years ago.
