Baron Weirwulf's Haunted Library

I would be remiss if I neglected to post at least one horror comic this season.  And while this 1979 issue of Charlton Comics' Haunted  may be a bit tame by the classic 1950's horror comics standards, I offer it in the spirit of the season nonetheless. I don't have much to add to these pages and honestly, I'm running so far behind on decorations this season due to weather and work, I need all the time I can get to prepare for the big day.  So enjoy and tune in tomorrow for the final installment of The Countdown to Halloween.

  1. Nothing scarier than late-Seventies' teenybopper heartthrobs. Oog.

  2. The adds are funner than the comics! But I have to differ with Top Cat. I thought that Leif Garret was a cutie.

    1. To each their own, my dear :). But look what we poor guys were offered--Debby Boone? KRISTY McNICHOL? (No Loni Anderson, Catherine Bach, or Lynda Carter? Bah!)

    2. Cheryl Tiegs, Cheryl Ladd, and Farrah Fawcett all could rock a bathing suit!

  3. Oddly enough, I don't see the "approved by the Comics Code" seal on the cover which makes this lameness really inexcusable.

  4. ah don't hate to much on Charlton they were my horror comic of choice in my youth. Didn't hurt I frequented a monthly flea market where they were five for a buck. Charlton pay to their artists were crap but the artists were free to do as they pleased. Great stuff from Steve Ditko, Pat Boyette, and especially Tom Sutton whose painted covers were absolutely amazing. I mean they do look like they were printed on toilet paper though :)

    1. No hate at all, Billman. But they were clearly guarded against too much controversy. The ending of the second story is odd. Just an out of the blue, a "higher power" strikes down the villain. I liked the art. And you're right, the cover is great!
